SEPTEMBER CHRISTINA NOBLE UPDATE

Sep 16, 2024Blog

Millions of children around the world continue to be trapped in poverty, abandonment, abuse and at high risk of exploitation and trafficking, every single day.

For 35 years, the Christina Noble Children’s Foundation has been helping such young people and their communities to reclaim their futures. We help them heal from their trauma, and together we strive to break generational cycles of poverty for good, through; child protection and safeguarding, education, healthcare and community development programmes.  As we continue to push forward through what remain challenging times, we’re proud and grateful, to share a few highlights made possible by our incredible community of frontline teams, volunteers, supporters, donors, and partners.

On behalf of us all at the Christina Noble Children’s Foundation, we sincerely thank you for standing with us.

TWO NEW KINDERGARTEN BUILDS AND SCHOOL NUTRITION PROGRAMME

For Vulnerable Ethnic Minority Children

CNCF is excited to announce the completion of construction and renovations on three kindergarten facilities in underserved ethnic minority regions of Vietnam. These initiatives enhance learning environments, creating safer spaces for young children facing significant challenges and alleviate financial burdens for families living in sever poverty. By improving access to quality pre-school education, we empower these young children with the skills and knowledge they need for a healthy future, reaffirming our accelerated effort to supporting highly vulnerable ethnic minority communities. Sincere thank you to our generous donor (who wants to remain anonymous) for these vital construction builds.

THREE BRIDGES BUILT IN MEKONG DELTA REGION

Ensuring Safe Passage For School Children And Their Communities

CNCF have built three more bridges in the Mekong Delta region of South Vietnam. These vital structures have transformed hazardous river crossings for children into a secure passage for school journeys. The bridges also improve access to markets, healthcare, and essential services for the entire community. Sincere thanks to Harbour Energy Vietnam for funding these projects and to our provincial partners for making this possible.

SUSTAINABLE CLEAN WATER MEKONG DELTA REGIONS

Clean Drinking Water For Thousands Of Children

Climate change poses severe threats in Vietnam, including sea-level rise, saline intrusion, and droughts, impacting access to clean water, particularly in schools in the Mekong delta region. To address this urgent need, CNCF partnered with US NGO Gravity Water to provide sustainable clean water solutions for schools in the Mekong Delta. This initiative focuses on harvesting and purifying rainwater, benefiting approximately 50,000 students and staff annually. Thank you to Gravity Water for their funding and instillation support and to our local partners for enabling us to make a significant and sustainable difference in these communities.

Congratulations Graduates, who fought against all the odds to reach their graduation day.

A special thanks to our main Noble Education Scholarship partners- FIFE (Furniture Industry for Education), Wednesday Afternoon Golf Society Hong Kong, MiTek, and ASIF (Australia Social Impact Foundation).

SPOTLIGHT ON OUR STARS – THE CHILDREN

Master’s Graduate in Mathematics to PHD

We are very proud to share the success story of Quan, a former child from our Sunshine Residential and Medical Centre. Over 20 years ago, Quan joined CNCF as a residential child in need of medical care, and last month, he graduated with a master’s in mathematics and is now preparing for his PhD. Quan’s return to CNCF highlight the profound impact of our support in breaking the cycle of generational poverty. Quan shared: “Thank you for the opportunity to visit CNCF Vietnam again, my second home. I am delighted to be welcomed back to such a warm and familiar atmosphere. CNCF laid the foundation for my long-term development, and I am deeply grateful for that.”

From Orphan to Law Graduate – Breaking Generational Poverty For Good

We also proudly highlight Daria, pictured below, a 22-year-old, whose incredible journey from absolute destitution to success, highlights the incredible power of the human spirit and its resilience. Born into abject poverty, orphaned at a very young age and raised by her severely disabled Aunt, Daria joined CNCF’s Child Sponsorship Programme at just 8 years old. For over 14 years, Daria received all the vital support she needed from CNCF to thrive, including being a recipient of CNCF’s Noble Education Scholarship Programme, enabling her to pursue and graduate with a Law degree this summer – breaking generational poverty for good. At her graduation, Daria expressed, “I am forever grateful to CNCF and my sponsor in shaping who I am today. I dare not imagine my circumstances otherwise. Thank you all so much.”

We are striving to restore our pre-COVID sponsorship numbers, and countless children are waiting for support. Please consider becoming a sponsor, or if you’re already a sponsor, become an ambassador and encourage your network to sign up by sharing your experience as a child sponsor. For just $38 USD a month, you can sponsor young people like Quan and Daria and help them unlock their full potential.

Together, we can create lasting change. Thank you.
